Spin

SPIN (Indoor Cycling) is an aerobic cardio workout that takes place on a specially designed stationary bicycle, using a weighted flywheel to simulate the effects of inertia and momentum of riding a real bicycle. As you pedal, our well-trained and high-energy trainers motivate you with music and cues to guide you through a series of hills, sprints and jumps. Get ready to burn calories and sweat! Students can either wear athletic sneakers or cycling shoes.

During the class you vary your pace — sometimes pedaling as fast as you can, other times cranking up the tension and pedaling slowly from a standing position. This helps you to focus inwardly and work on your mind as well as your body.

Besides being a great form of aerobic activity (burning between 400-600 calories in 45 minutes), indoor cycling is also beneficial in strengthening the muscles of the lower body. It tones the quadriceps and hamstrings, along with working the core.
